Saint Varbara of Heliopolis (+ 306) is the Christian great martyr. She is considered a patroness from sudden death that in Christianity is considered in most cases punishment as death without repentance and a participle.
Saint Varvara differed in special beauty and has been locked by the father in a tower to hide her from public eyes. In the period of an imprisonment Saint Varvara, studying the world around which was visible to her from windows, has arrived at an idea of presence of the uniform Creator. When the father for her marriage has allowed it to leave a tower, Varvara has got acquainted with Christians of the city of Iliopolya and has hosted a baptism. When the father has learned about religion of the daughter, Varvara was cruelly tortured: castigated volovy veins, and wounds pounded a hair shirt. The governor of the city of Martian has granted to the father the right to make trial of the daughter which has beheaded Saint Varvara. Saint Varvara's relics are stored in Vladimirsky Cathedral in Kiev.
