St. Anastasia (+ approx. 304) suffered during the reign of the Roman Emperor Diocletian (284-305). She was born in Rome. Her father was a pagan. Her mother was a secret christian who gave her little girl to St. Chrysogonus to train. After the mother's death the father gave Anastasia married a gentile against. It was against her will and in order not to break the vow of virginity and avoid conjugal bed Anastasia constantly said about the incurable disease and this way she kept clean.
There were many prisoners christians in the dungeons of Rome at that time. Anastasia secretly visited the prisoners and one day her husband found out about it. He brutally beat her and locked into custody. After Anastasia's father's death she became dispose of its legacy. It is so happened that soon her husband died in the shipwreck.
Anastasia again began to visit the Christians who were languishing in the prisons. She received the inheritance and used it on clothing, food and medicine for the sick. So she was named as a "bonds-destroyer" for being facilitated and made easier the suffering of Christian prisoners.
The emperor got to known that Anastasia was a Christian and on his orders she was taken into custody. After much tortures she was executed over a slow fire.
The saint's body remained intact and a devout Christian Apollinaris buried them. When the persecution were over she built a church over the grave of Saint Anastasia.
