Saint Xenia of Petersburg lived at the beginning of the XVIII century. It is known that up to 26 years she led a normal life at herhome in Lahti street with her husband Colonel Andrei Fedorovich Petrov. Suddenly without any repentance the death of a loved spouse all changed. Xenia decided to pray for him before God. She distributed the property of her husband and put on the uniform and named it after him. Since that time Blessed Xenia roamed the streets of St. Petersburg at night over 45 years. She prayed there before dawn. The residents of St. Petersburg at first took her crazy but soon they noticed that the holy fool the pilgrim has a special power of grace healing, prophecy, help in everyday matters.
When the construction of a new stone church in the Smolensk cemetery began, the blessed start to help the workers at night. She was picking bricks up the top. After all she was buried in the Smolensk cemetery. At the grave of the bl. Xenia there are always many pilgrims: thas saint revered as the first assistant in all sorts of needs.
Especially a lot of people come to the day of her memory, 6 February (24 January).
