The original icon of Virgin Mary, which is called the Gate of Dawn Vilnius is located on the old gates (Dawn), from which she took her name. There are several versions of its occurrence. This image may have been a gift of the Byzantine patriarch. There is a theory and more recent occurrence. In particular, a number of researchers relate it to a period of 16-17 centuries and attributed it painted by an unknown Italian master.
