Martyr Gordius was born at the end of the III century in the city of Caesarea in Cappadocia in a Christian family. In adulthood, he enlisted in the army and, having shown courage and military skill, was appointed as a centurion. During the persecution of Christians in the beginning of IV century, he left the world and went into the desert, in order to have fought a good cook himself to profess the name of Christ the Savior. The 320 year Gordius openly before the prefect of the city in defense of Christians. He was captured and after the terrible torture was beheaded.
