Christian people wore security rings much earlier then a cross. The form of a vicious circle was perceived as a mysterious spiritual fence. There is an inscribed prayer to God in a circle and the saints of God endowed it with a special power. Often, these rings were used for the wedding so they kept not only separate person, but also saved his family.
On this ring there birds sitting on branches are depicted. On the inner side a prayer to the Mother of God is placed : "O Most Holy Theotokos, save me!".
Birds - is a symbol of New Testament people of God who tirelessly care us as His children". "Look at the birds in the sky,- the Lord sais - they do not sow, neither reap, nor gather into barns butyour heavenly Father feeds them "(Mt 6, 26).
