St. Cyril and his older brother Methodius, educators Slovenian, born in Macedonia, in the city of Thessalonica. Saint Cyril, from childhood had shown a brilliant mind and extraordinary talent, he studied with the son of the emperor from the best teachers. He soon was ordained presbyter, was librarian of the cathedral church and teacher of philosophy. He became famous as a brilliant controversialist and preacher of Christianity. But his main act he committed with his brother and became the Khazar Baptist educator and Slavic peoples.
In 862, at the request of the Moravian Prince Rostislav brothers went to Moravia to preach Christianity in the Slavic language. There Saints Cyril and Methodius, according to the revelation of God made the Slavonic alphabet and translated into Slavic Gospel, the Apostle, the Psalter and many liturgical books, entering the divine service in the Slavic language. Shortly thereafter, St. Cyril of many works was ill and taking the schema, died in 869, 42 years of age.
