On the front side of the cross is depicted the Crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ. On both sides, the Most Holy Theotokos and John the Baptist, the Baptist of the Lord, are in the Deesis (prayer for people). A short prayer to the Cross is placed around the Crucifixion: We bow to your cross, Vladyka, and we glorify your holy Resurrection. Below are depicted three holy creators of the Liturgy - the saints Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian and John Chrysostom. Above is the icon of the Holy Trinity. It is the image of the Triune God who appeared in the form of three angels to the ancestor Abraham. On the back are written the initial verses of the protective prayer to the Holy Cross of the Lord. This prayer is read in danger, and also carried with them for protection from evil forces: May God arise and His enemies be scattered, and flee from His hating His face. As soon as smoke disappears, they disappear; As wax melts from the face of fire, so that demons perish from the face of those who love God.
