The Holy Martyrs Adrian and his wife Natalia lived under the emperor Maximian (305-311) in the era of brutal persecution of Christians. Adrian was a court officer and witnessed the martyrdom of Christians. He was struck by their courage and declared himself as a follower of Christ before the Emperor. So at that time the saint was arrested. The St. Adrian's wife St. Natalia was a secret Christian. Having learned about the arrest of her husband she came to the prison and began to strengthen the spouse. she asked him not to fear the suffering. On the day of the execution she also was next to him. After the torture and execution the martyr's body was burned but St. Natalia took a severed arm of her spouse. The young widow went to live in strict retreat, praying at the relics of the martyr. Adrian. But the emperor decided to interrupt her imprisonment and betrothed her to one of his generals. Learning of this, the martyr. Natalia ran away to Byzantium, where she reposed to God soon.
The memory of St. Martyrs Adrian and Natalia is celebrated on September 8, on August 26.
