One of the most important symbols of Christianity is the cross depicting the crucified Jesus, who died in torment, but was resurrected for the salvation of all mankind. By right it is believed that the cross has a special power and is able to protect the body and soul of a person from evil forces. The church altar is located in the altar on the throne (hence the name), where the Gospel is also considered an indispensable attribute of any church.

The altar cross is used by the priest during the Liturgy, blessing the believers. On the Feast of the Epiphany, they also consecrate water.
