Patens

Paten - liturgical vessel with small flat bottom. It is shaped like a flat plate with wide margins. As a rule, the paten is mounted on a stand with a high foot. On the holy liturgy the lamb  and communion bread particles  put on the paten after the liturgy of preparation. Paten symbolizes the  manger where the newborn Christ was laid , and the tomb where Christ was buried.
