Mithras adorns the priest and at the same time reminds of the crown of thorns with which the Savior was crowned. In the Orthodox Church, when a miter is put on, the bishop reads the prayer just like when performing the sacrament of marriage. For this reason, the miter is also understood as the image of the golden crowns with which the righteous in the Kingdom of Heaven are crowned at the marriage feast of the combination of Jesus Christ and the Church.
