The original of the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos, which is called Ostrobraska, is located on the old gate of Vilnius (the Sharp Brama), from which it took its name. At that time, many of the Lithuanian nobility still adhered to pagan beliefs. This image, perhaps, was a gift of the Byzantine patriarch. There is a theory of a later occurrence. In particular, a number of researchers refer it to the period of 16-17 centuries and attribute it to an unknown Italian master.
