It is known that Saint Vadim lived in Persia in the fourth century. As a young man, he left his parental home and settled in a small monastery outside the city. Soon his asceticism was noticed and he was ordained to the priesthood. In the monastery, Saint Vadim preached all his life, until King Shapur began persecution Persian Christians. Saint Vadim, along with his disciples, ended up in prison, where he was tortured for 4 months. Even after cruel torture Saint Vadim did not deny Christ, and his disciples followed his example and were strong.
Saint Vadim was executed by another Christian, Nirsan, by order of King Shapur. Under torture, he denied Christ and decapitated St. Vadim for the forgivness and awards promised by the king. Thereafter, tormented by conscience Nirsan committed suicide. 5 years later, after the death of King Shapur, the disciples of St. Vadim were released.
