During his lifetime Saint Tryphon was famous for his ability to heal, from a young age the Lord gave him the power of casting out demons. People often ask Tryphon for help in order to alleviate their illness and also to save the harvest from various pests.
During the reign of Decius Trajan, the persecution of Christians began. Tryphon and his comrade were seized and thrown into prison, and then tortured: they drove pins into their feet, burned them with torches, hung them on a tree and beat them. Tryphon steadfastly endured all the torments and was sentenced to beheading. Before the execution, Tryphon prayed earnestly, and the Lord took his soul even before the executioners had time to carry out the sentence.
