This image appeared relatively late in icon painting, although the practice of Oka image of God existed in the Middle Ages. This icon is an allegory. Here the Lord is depicted in the center of the large eye, symbolizing vsevidenie and omniscience of God. Above the eye is an image of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who raises his hands up in prayer. The four circles also have allegorical images of the four holy evangelists.
