Reverend Arseny (in the world Alexey Mitrofanov) in the coveted youth monastic life, when he met with St. Seraphim of Sarov. Altogether father Seraphim, he was three.
Short time he was a novice in the Solovetsky Monastery, and after a while he came to Glinsk desert, where he was under the leadership of Reverend Filaret Glinski. There he learned to monastic labors and under the guidance of the holy mentor began to grow rapidly and gain an invaluable spiritual experience. In 1839, the abbot Filaret Alexis tonsured a monk named Arseny.
After the death of Abbot Filaret Reverend Father Arseny was the first rector of the revived monastery Svyatogorsk. Imitating his spiritual father, the abbot Arseny with great care and love did everything to the monastery strengthened. He was a faithful father and mentor brethren. Just a few years on the site of the ruins of the monastery arose splendidly. In 1850, for the activity of his father Arseny elevated to the rank of Archimandrite.
Unfortunately, Reverend Father Arseny had gone to another world in the 54 years of age. Brethren buried his mentor in the Holy Caves. In 2008, the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. Asen glorified among the saints.
