Icon of Our Lady of the Life-Giving Spring
Miraculous Icon of the Mother of God "Life-Giving Spring" dates back to the V century, when the Virgin miraculously healed a blind man on one of the sources near Constantinople. Once this became known to all, the Emperor Leo I built a temple near that source in honor of the miracle accomplished. It is hard to call, and the approximate number of those who were healed in this temple. Lots of icons, which stood near the spring began to diverge around the world, bringing grace and healing to those who asked the Mother of God for help.The icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary, called "Life-giving Spring", the Mother of God with the little Jesus is portrayed seated in the font. The iconography of this image of Our Lady comes from the type Nikopeya Kiriotissy (Vladichitsa winner). Initially, the image source is not depicted, but then the bowl was included in the composition. In later times there were images of the fountain and pond.
