On the front side of the cross is depicted the Crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ.

On the back - the Kazan icon of the Blessed Virgin, one of the most revered in Russia. The icon was shown at the conflagration in Kazan in 1579. In 1904, the shrine was abducted and destroyed, but the miracle-working power of the icon was revealed by the Mother of God on many of its lists.
