Archangel Michael is the chief of the Holy Angels of God, who is also called the Archangel, which in translation means the commander-in-chief. One of the angels whose name is mentioned in the Holy Scriptures. In particular, the book of Revelation says: And there was a war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought against them, but they did not stand, and there was no place for them in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, the ancient serpent, called the devil and Satan, deceiving the whole universe, cast into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. (Rev. 12: 7-9)
Archangel Michael is the highest of the Archangels and the first of the servants of God. According to the interpretations of the holy fathers, it was this position that formerly belonged to Lucifer (translated as light-bearing), but who was proud, betrayed the Lord, became Satan (translated enemy) and seduced some of the angels who fell with the devil and became demons.
