In the XIX century, this image became famous thanks to the wonders that the Mother of God made through him. For many years the icon was in oblivion and instead of lying reproach steps on the stairs of the old bell tower near the small church in honor of St. John the Divine (near Vologda). Is turned face to the ground it was taken for a simple plaque, which went on until the Mother of God was not a poor man, and said to go and remove the icon from the ladder. After that, many miracles began to happen from this wonderful image. Depicted on it seven arrows that pierce the heart of Mary, St. Simeon's prophecy indicate Bogopreimtsa of sorrow and grief that come upon her when her crucified Son.
